Dear Dr. Klein:
It is amazing- there are only nine weeks remaining in the 2001-2002 academic year!
The Grosse Pointe Association for Gifted Education is preparing an end of the year report and
we would like to include some information on school district activities.
Your August 6, 2001 correspondence to Valerie Hintzen (attached) offered to provide the timeline
for implementation of initiatives necessary to implement the middle school recommendations along with the plan for training
experiences needed to support these improvements. I would like to request copies of these documents to include in our report.
Also, earlier in the school year we submitted to Dr. Allan a series of questions from parents
seeking information about gifted programming which we thought could serve as a foundation for a school district prepared newsletter
to parents of gifted and talented students.
We have updated the questions that were written, eliminating those that were addressed in the
fall newsletter and are including a copy for you and Dr. Allan. We would appreciate you and members of the administrative
staff, as appropriate, addressing as many of these questions as possible so that we can provide timely and accurate information
in our report. The depth and breadth of the questions is necessitated by the need for parents to guide their gifted childs
academic course at earlier phases.
We anticipate distributing our report on May 18 so would appreciate any responses that you can
provide no later than May 10, 2002.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support of our activities.
Sincerely.
Chris Kaczanowski
